Above the Great Hall fireplace, painted with the royal arms and "Dieu et mon droit". It is dated 1665, "renewed A.D. 1797", and came from the Newton-on-Ayr Town House in 1967.
Its moulded stone sides are one of the clues historians use to date the house.
One of the vaulted cellars was the wine cellar, linked by a narrow stair straight up to the hall.
